Melody in the movies: 1982

Rajiv Vijaykar (Screen)

Yeh Vaada Raha has one of the finest title-tracks of RD Burman's career.

Yeh Vaada Raha has one of the finest title-tracks of RD Burman's career. 'Aisa kabhi hua nahin ...' and 'Ishq meri bandagi hai...' are two such memorable tracks.

Shakti boasts of 'Jaane kis din kab kahaan...'.

Teri Kasam (which has composer Laxmikant making a guest appearance as himself) has fleetingly popular songs like 'Kya hua ek baat par...' and 'Yeh zameen gaa rahi hai...'.

Ashanti has Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle collaborating on the laavani 'Lavangi mirchi...' but it is the Asha-Amit song 'Dil diya hai maine dil liya hai ...' which races up the charts.

Shaukeen is noted only for Ashok Kumar's last adventure before the microphone. He sings 'Chalo haseen geet ...' with Chirashree Bhattacharjee.

Zamaane Ko Dikhaana Hai is not a patch on other Nasir Husain-RD-Majrooh Sultanpuri collaborations, starting from Teesri Manzil in '66. 'Pooncho na yaar kya hua...', 'Hoga tumse pyaara kaun...' (recycled by Anand-Milind in 1995 as 'Aaya mausam hum dono ke pyar ka...' in Hum Dono), 'Dil lena khel hai dildar ka...' the tepid title-track along with 'Bolo bolo kuch to bolo...' are modestly popular but far from memorable.

Angoor is noted for RD's spoofy adaptation of the vintage O.P.Nayyar hit 'Preetam aan milo' as vocalized by Sapan Chakravorty.
